My awesome and VERY hard working staff:
Mr Chris, Ms Haley, Ms Tori & Ms Lucy
Thanks for all you do!
Dear Parents and Artists,                                                                                                                                                 August 2006

Summer has come to an end and what an amazing summer it was!  We all had a wonderful time creating arts and crafts
together.  I was blessed to have the best of help this summer (above) and I could not have done it without them. Our goal
was to introduce you to fun arts & crafts projects and get your imaginations soaring.  I hope you enjoyed the camps and
classes as much as we did.

I know we are all looking forward to the cooler weather this Fall and some much needed rain!  Here is something else to
look forward to, our First Annual "Celebrate Art Show"!  The show will be open to the public and your ART could be on
display for all to see!  We will have art displayed in the barn, the house and hands on art in the studio!  I hope you will
consider adding your framed art or sculptures (created here at the studio within the past few years) to the displays.  We will
be adding a short artist bio to your artwork so be thinking of some interesting things you would like to share with the public
about your career so far as an artist!

We are looking forward to seeing you all in the Fall, Spring, next Summer or at any of the exciting events we have planned
for Fall!

Ms Gwen & Staff
Dear Parents and Artists,

What a joy this is to be introducing myself to you as the proud new owner of The Crayon Box Studio!  For years, I
have hoped that one-day I could be part of something so exciting.  My dream has come true and I am looking forward
to meeting each of you soon!  I am excited and ready to begin my new adventure with all of you at The Crayon Box
Studio.

I am a native Tylerite, born at Mother Francis Hospital on Saint Patrick’s Day.  However, I spent most of my
childhood days in Houston in the Alief School District.  I attended Robert E. Lee for a year and a half but graduated
from Clements High School in Sugar Land, TX.  I returned to attend Tyler Junior College.  After graduating from
TJC, I continued my education at The University of Texas at Tyler graduating with a Bachelor’s of Science in
Interdisciplinary Studies.  Below is a list of some my accomplishments throughout my college years to the present.
  • Kindergarten Aide at Rice Elementary for 2 years
  • Timberline Camp in Lindale for 3 summers (the last summer as Day Camp Director)
  • While at TJC through the Baptist Student Ministry:
Children’s Ministry Leader
Student Senate Representative
Co-President of BSM
Summer Missionary to California (VBS Director)
  • Sunday School Teacher (7th & 8th grade) for 1 year and Youth Worker for 5 years
  • Art Teacher at Collins Elementary (Alief ISD) 1 year (established Community Art Club)
  • Art Teacher Rice Elementary  (Tyler ISD) 4 years (Established Fifth Grade Art Club)
  • Week long Summer Camps at Arts-A-La-Carte in Houston
  • Week long Summer Camps at Discovery Science Place in Tyler
Art has always been a passion of mine, always my favorite subject in school.  I went into teaching because I wanted
to inspire children of all ages to love the arts, and through the arts, help students learn to love more about themselves
and the world around them too.

With the support and prayers of you, my family and friends, I am confident that this will be the beginning of
something amazing.  I am looking forward to sharing this opportunity with each of you and I hope to meet you all in
person soon.

Blessings to you,

Ms Gwen
